Funding

This page is to discuss the funding opportunities we can use to support the project we are working on as 'Tuesday Connections'. Here you can look at the applications of DYCP funding, example emails to venues and a look into the 'Let's Create' 10 year plan the arts council proposes.

Using the templates this can offer an insight into how we can access funds and plan to use this to drive our performance forward.

Here is the draft template for our application for DYCP funding.

We thought it would be beneficial to apply to this funding to our practice as we are emerging artists and the funding would help allow us to develop our creative practice to engage with the industry standard.

Example Email to Venues

This is an example letter the performance company 'Tuesday Connections' will use as a format to contact venues. To organise meetings to discuss potential collaborations, use of venues and workshops.

Dear (Insert Programmer Name)

  • It's important to research into the programmer of the venue in order to create a more personal email to the venue.

My name is Ben Knowles, I am a Performance Scholar based in Manchester and Co-Director of the Theatre Company 'Tuesday Connections'. I am emailing in the hopes to organise a meeting between yourself and the other director of our company Chloe Williams.

  • To organise a meeting offers the opportunity to discuss more about the venue, working with the venue and developing collaborations with the programmer.

We are a contemporary performance theatre company which have created a piece based on the theme of Loneliness for students who have just transitioned to University. Over the course of the Covid-19 Pandemic we have seen a rise in the case of mental health disorders among people due to the loss of contact with others. Our aim as a company is to bring more people together who are suffering because of this, we plan to do this by creating a perfomance which the demographic connect with and also offering workshops alongside this on confidence building and organising socials in which people can meet with each others and connect. Our performance is a blend of comedy, physical theatre, and Verbatim theatre.

  • This part of the email details who we are, what our project is, and what we can offer.

Tuesday Connections has previous experience in creating performances using both contemporary practices and applied Theatre. We have both completed a Masters degree in Contemporary Performance which have solidified our practices and allowed us to engage in the industry via establishing connections with other practitioners. We are hoping to organise a meeting with you to discuss the possibility of using your venue as a platform to perform our piece or offer workshops at the venue, we would also be happy to meet and discuss more into the work you do as programmer of the venue.

  • Showing the programmer our history and how our creative practice has developed can give them a greater insight into what we can offer.

  • Offering to meet for a chat also opens up the possibilities to build a relationship if the show does not meet the venues aims and objectives (which should be researched before the email is sent).

Thank you for taking time to read this email, we hope to hear back with you and organising a meeting whether that be online or in person.

Let's Create - Arts Council

Tuesday Connections have read the 10-Year Strategy of Let's Create by the Arts Council.

We have identified the outcomes of the Arts Council and what they wish to deploy as part of their new strategy, such as

  • Dynamism

  • Cultural Communities

  • Creative People

  • Cultural and Creative Communities.

We have considered the application of this to our company strategy as we follow these rules as we believe giving people access and engagement within the arts is a powerful tool in the progression of the arts in the country.
