Tuesday Connections

We are a care free chaotic yet orderly cohort who met on a Monday but Connected on a Tuesday. The Tuesday Connections are a theatre company dedicated in creating performances for people who feel underrepresented. Through a combination of their plural practices, Tuesday Connections explore what it means to be human.

Tuesday Connections

ALONE TOGETHER

A Verbatim Piece combining Comedy and semi-physical movements about being alone but alone together. Alex and Sam have just moved to university. Alex is excited to start their new journey, although there's one drawback, they are socially awkward. Sam, on the other hand, they are just unlikeable. They live in the same building. One room away. They are alone but alone together.

If you love shitty dancing, throwback R&B vibez, bad singing and feeling alone on the sticky dancefloor. You are not alone, but alone together.

Inspired by Silent Uproar’s ‘A super happy story (about feeling super sad)’.

TUESDAY CONNECTIONS TWELVE MONTH PLAN

Over the course of 2022/23 we aim to develop three shows. Each looking into different aspects of declined mental health in various social contexts.

  • With the first show looking at loneliness at university, we aim to expand on this and broaden our demographic.

With our plan to tour 2 shows and have a third one under development by September 2023, we hope to progress our professional practice and begin to use our connections and understanding to help formulate shows that can help our audiences feel both engaged and empowered to know they are not alone.

  • We aim to have at least 3 workshops we can alternate whilst we tour in order to gain a variety of audiences, in order give them the help/ give advice.

  • By September 2023 we aim to have built strong connections with both Derby Theatre and a theatre in Manchester to solidify our creative space.

Programme Notes

'Those who receive huge annual subsidy are often located in the best-connected city centres surrounded by nightlife and accommodation, and are large, shiny and visible enough to gain real traction with corporate and private giving.

' (Mitchell, 2013: 11).

Getting it Out There

'Collaboration is the way forward, and it doesn’t mean the big and powerful organisations leaving their doors slightly ajar to let ‘our work’ in. Real collaboration benefits everyone equally. And a good co-production works best when there is artistic involvement from the very beginning, rather than an offer of a receiving house and a budget.' (Live Arts UK, 2012: 8).

SMART Objectives

Specific

Using specific targets we aim to achieve opportunities which are specific in nature.

Measurable

Being measurable means we are able to record our objectives.

Achievable

Something achievable which will allow us to stay on target and within what we can do.

Relevant

Relevant targets will give us an understanding of what we need to do during our time.

Time-Based

Giving a Time-Based objective give us a deadline to work with and meet the target.

Tuesday Connections have created three targets which we aim to achieve within our first year as a collective theatre company.

  • We aim to develop and perform 2 scratch nights to university students in the first 3 months of our R and D (Research and Development) phase. This will help us gain insight into how they feel on the subject.

  • Contact at least 3 of the following charities in the first 2 months of our project to discuss using their leaflets and resources in our performance.

    • MIND

    • Mental Health Foundation

    • Together

    • Samaritans

    • YoungMinds

    • Man Up

  • To contact venues across 3 cities in the UK, to begin touring our performance within their venues.

    • Derby

    • Manchester

    • Birmingham

    • Nottingham

    • Leeds

E-Flyer Draft

Here is a draft version of the E-Flyer 'Tuesday Connections' will send out in their Alone Together project.

We have placed in pictures of the directors of the company so that they can see who they are working with. Also attaching a copy of the company logo.

We have also given the information on the show in a small synopsis of what can be expected, this allows the receiver of the flyer to understand what the performance is about and why we are showing this.

We have also placed a template in which we can promote the theatre/venue that we will be working with and a specific charity we will be working with. We will also provide information on the charity such as the email and telephone number so that whoever receives this has the contact details for the specific charity should they wish to make contact.

Logo Design

This logo was designed by Tuesday Connections, we associated our vision of our performance as a column. Similar to the columns in ancient Greek amphitheater's holding up the coliseum. We aim to use our company as a platform in which we can uphold the ideals of giving the unrepresented a voice.

Using our connections and practice we hope that this logo will be able to demonstrate a platform in which people can find comfort and speak openly as they are aware this is a safe space in which they will be heard.
