Chatroom (2021)

The Northern Comedy Theatre present Chatroom by Enda Walsh.

Chatroom is the story of six teenagers who enter an online chatroom, they discuss various topics from Britney Spears to the crippling depression of adult life. Jim a young impressionable young man enters the chatroom looking for help to escape his own mind. However, William has another plan.

Playing the character of Jim was an exciting experience, working with a group of talented individuals I was able to experiment with my actor training and push against the usual roles I play. Performing the innocence of Jim and portraying a character truly rattled through his harrowing ordeal was a challenging role. The themes of the performance were of a dark nature but we continued to challenge and push ourselves to deal with these themes in a professional manner.

Experimenting with this play over Zoom was a great utilisation of the current social climate. As lockdown hindered many people to see live performance it was a fantastic opportunity for people to engage with 'Live' theatre directly from home.
